Company Announcement: Achieving ISO45001

Ascot Services

Committed to Workplace Occupational Health & Safety

We are very pleased to announce that Ascot Services UK Ltd has successfully achieved the transition to ISO 45001, the world’s first global health and safety management system.

This new accreditation replaces the previous British Standard OHSAS 18001. All companies need to migrate to ISO 45001 by March 2021 to retain recognised certification.

The new international standard was only released in March 2018 and Ascot has worked hard to gain this accreditation to show their commitment to the health and safety of their employees and clients.

ISO 45001:2018 is an International Standard that specifies requirements for an occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system, to enable organisations to proactively improve their safety performance in preventing accidents, injury and ill health.

For any company, the road to certification requires time and commitment. Ascot began their internal preparations for certification and transition in January 2019, by evaluating their existing procedures and aligning them with the new requirements. Since their documentation and procedures were already well established and compliant with the current British Standards, they had a good foundation to work from. In June 2019, BSI performed the mandatory transition audit. They then notified Ascot of their achievement of the successful transitioning to ISO 45001 from OHSAS 18001.

As a company who constantly strives to continually improve our systems, having an effective occupational health and safety management system is paramount for us. This is why we are extremely honoured to have successfully achieved this new standard well in advance of the required migration date.
